Original BBQ Documentary 'For the Love of Meat' Plays NYC Next Week

While barbecue lovers in NYC have lots of great options for eating BBQ, we don't often get the chance to watch entire films about it. Thankfully that changes next Tuesday with the screening of For the Love of Meat, a new documentary about Central Texas BBQ from filmmakers Jeff Jones, Matthew Johnson, Matt Wallis, and Brandon Gonzales.

The film contains interviews and insights with some of Texas' best-known pitmasters, including Aaron Franklin (Franklin Barbecue), Tootsie Tomanetz (Snow's BBQ), and Wayne Mueller (Louie Mueller Barbecue). In it, these pitmasters explain their philosophies and how they make some of the world's best barbecue.

For the Love of Meat will be screening at Hill Country in Manhattan on Tuesday, Jan. 24 and will also be paired with brisket tasting session with Wayne Mueller. (Mueller will also be guest pitmaster all day at Hill Country BBQ if you are unable to go to the screening.) The full session will run from 6 to 9 p.m., with the film screening at 7 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now and it costs $7 in advance ($10 at the door), which is a steal considering you also get a free complimentary draft beer. I'll also be there if you want to say hello.
