With indoor dining shut down in New York City as of Monday, New York’s restaurants need a hand. One way you can help them out is to order a catering package from them, so you can have an excellent feast for the holidays.
One notable thing about these packages is that many of them offer specials you can’t normally get, including smoked ham, prime rib, and special pies. These holiday orders must be placed before December 19th or 20th at most joints, so make sure you get your orders in now.
Some of the best holiday package pre-order options include:
Blue Smoke
The Flatiron location of Blue Smoke recently closed but the Battery Park City location is still kicking and offering a great array of holiday classics like prime rib.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que
The Brooklyn and Harlem locations of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que are cooking up specials like ham-brined pork shoulder and more.
Gentle Giant Brewing
Rockland County-based Gentle Giant Brewing has a wide array of holiday specials like smoked turkey, ham, pork loin, and more.
Hill Country Barbecue Market
Manhattan-based Hill Country is offering up holiday specials including prime rib and Texas turkey.
Hometown Bar-B-Que
If you want to get in on a feast from Red Hook and Industry City-based Hometown Bar-B-Que, they are offering up specials like glazed ham and more. (But might as well get a beef rib while you’re already ordering.)
Juicy Lucy BBQ
Staten Island’s Juicy Lucy BBQ has Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve packages, including ones with turkey, ham, brisket, or pastrami.
Kimchi Smoke
New Jersey-based Kimchi Smoke is offering up holiday catering that includes brisket, pork shoulder, wings, ribs, and more.
Morgan’s Brooklyn Barbecue
Morgan’s in Brooklyn has a variety of catering options that include brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and party trays.
Pig Beach
Brooklyn-based Pig Beach has great holiday specials including bone-in prime rib roast, glazed ham, smoked turkey breast, tri-tip steak, and much more.
Pulkies
Brooklyn-based Pulkies specializes in “Jewish-style BBQ,” with turkey and beef front and center, so they’re a great option for a holiday feast.
Queens Bully
Forest Hills-based Queens Bully has some inventive specials for the holidays, including braised lamb shank and cheddar scallion biscuits.
Red White and Que Smokehouse
New Jersey favorite Red White and Que has ham, turkey, brisket, and more on tap for the holidays.

I hope you are all able to get some delicious barbecue for the holidays and safely see your families (whether socially distanced or virtual), despite the crazy going on around us. Have a great holiday season.

EAT ALL ABOUT IT
Here are the top BBQ and related food news stories you need to know about this week:
Juicy Lucy BBQ in Staten Island, one of the top barbecue restaurants in NYC, announced this week that it would close its doors between January 4 and March 6, 2021 because of the current restrictions in place on restaurants. “I want to thank each and every one of you who have supported us from day 1, AND KNOW THIS... WE WILL BE BACK,” owner Richie Holmes said on Instagram. “For those of you who know me, know I say what I mean and I mean what I say, you also know the level of capital investment we have in the place and will not give up this great place we have!” (We will see if other top restaurants decide to close up for the winter as well.)
Gentle Giant Brewing and Operation BBQ Relief are hosting a “Day of Giving” for Rockland County, NY on Sunday, December 20th. They will be cooking up 5,000 hot meals for those in need. They are in need of both donations (donate here) and volunteers (sign up here).
Industry City in Brooklyn “is launching an extensive heated outdoor dining experience with some of New York's favorite food vendors,” including Hometown Bar-B-Que. The 85,000-square-foot outdoor space will offer a heated dining experience like nowhere else in the city, so be sure to check this out.
