Best Pork Ever? Don't Miss Pig Island NYC 2024

You won’t want to miss out on Pig Island NYC in September.

On Saturday, September 7, it’s time to get piggy with it at the 15th annual Pig Island NYC event. Featuring more than 20 chefs and pitmasters cooking whole hog, creative pork dishes, farm fresh veggies, and much more, it's a can't-miss event for BBQ and global food fans.

Held at Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island, the event is great for families and groups of friends because there’s room to bring blankets and spread out while you get up and grab food and drinks from various stations around the sensational Snug Harbor site. You can go for a walk around the park when you're done, too. There are also tables for VIP groups if you want to get all your friends together and splurge.

Pig Island NYC has become more global over the years, including delicious dishes like Thai pork.

To wash down all the delicious pork, sides, and veggies, the event will also feature hard cider, wine, spirits, and craft beer from producers including Upstate Vodka, Bubba's Whiskey by Michter's, Fort Hamilton Distillery, New Riff Distilling, Flagship Brewing Co., Sly Fox Beer, Ramstein Beer, Aval Cider, Original Sin Cider, and Barrika Cider.

The competition is fierce at Pig Island NYC.

Expert judges will award the top honors at Pig Island NYC, led by James Beard Foundation Award winner Chintan Pandya of soon-to-open Kebabwala, Adda, Dhamaka, and Rowdy Rooster; Brandon Hoy of Michelin Bib Gourmand winner Roberta’s and James Beard Foundation Award Nominee Foul Witch; Emily Fedner of Petite Pasta Joint and @foodloversdiary; and Alessandra Ciuffo of @flavorsbyale.

This is one of my favorite events of the year, and it's worth the trek to Staten Island by car, bus, or ferry. (And if you live on or near SI, you have absolutely no excuses!)

You're seriously missing out if you’ve never been to Pig Island. I hope to see you all there. Be sure to grab tickets before they're gone.
