Two major New York City barbecue joints — Hill Country Barbecue Market and Pig Beach NYC — have begun offering large-scale deliveries to the suburbs of New York City, a creative way to add more revenue as restaurants continue to hurt from COVID-19 restrictions. Both joints added these options in the past few months to diversify the reach of their delicious smoked meats.
Specifically, Hill Country has a new partnership with Baldor Foods, which allows nearly anyone in the Tri-State area the ability to order barbecue boxes to be delivered to their homes. The packages include brisket and pulled pork sandwich kits, but if you want to go big, check out The Weekender that includes ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and hot links.
Pig Beach now offers barbecue delivery for large groups to Westchester, Long Island, and Greenwich, Connecticut. Packages can focus on burgers, sausage, ribs, wings, and more, with a $250 minimum on orders. The brand also recently launched a partnership with Hormel Foods for a line of “heat and eat BBQ” that you can find at grocery stores nationwide.
Additionally, multiple NYC-based joints are also available for nationwide delivery via the online service Goldbelly. This means a lot more places than the suburbs of NYC can get access They include:
Each one of these joints offers top-notch barbecue and I can confirm that reheating smoked meats from Goldbelly works incredibly well. I’ve written before that mail-order barbecue is worth a try during these crazy times and I stick by that assessment.
If I missed any New York area joints on these lists, please let me know.

EAT ALL ABOUT IT
Here are the top BBQ and related food news stories you need to know about this week:
Red White & Que Smokehouse, one of New Jersey’s best barbecue joints, will open within the next week following a fire in June that closed the restaurant for months. One of the restaurant’s smokers caught fire and caused minor damage inside the joint, but the team has fixed everything up and acquired a glorious new smoker to replace the old one.
The popular delivery service app Caviar was recently acquired by larger delivery service DoorDash, but Eater NY reports that the “new Caviar” has not had a smooth transition for the many restaurants that rely on it for business. (Note: If you want to make sure you help a restaurant you love, try calling in your order directly.)
Retired New York Jets center Nick Mangold has found a new labor of love — BBQ sauce. After playing 11 seasons in the NFL, he’s working in a completely new field, creating a line of sauces under the name Seventy Four BBQ Sauce.
Tyler Anderson, a top Connecticut chef and restaurateur, has launched a new taco and barbecue project called TA-Que in Hartford. The menu features tacos, smoked meats like baby back ribs and pork belly, and sides like street corn, slaw, and beans.
Finally, in a bit of strange news, the owner of now-closed Fat Jacks BBQ in Ithaca, NY pleaded guilty to criminal tax fraud. The owner admitted to pocketing about $200,000 in sales tax, Syracuse.com reports.
